What Kids On The Land is all about

Esther Keul is originally from central Louisiana, but moved to Tallahassee from East Texas with her husband Adam. When she is not gardening or enjoying her fabulous back deck, she makes a great latte at Hometown Coffee House in downtown Tallahassee. Esther grew up in the country with a big family and is most in her element when surrounded by a group of kids. She finds a magic in nature that many people miss.

Adam Keul is originally from East Texas, but moved to Tallahassee with Esther in August of 2007. He recently completed the first year of his PhD in human/environmental Geography at FSU. After a successful stint as an elite pole-vaulter, Adam has found new inspiration in teaching and working in the wilds of Gadsden County. A life long woodsman and conservationist, Adam combines an environmental ethic with a Southern disposition.

Adam and Esther Keul have been a team for four years, and have been married for two. They are the proud parents of two fur-people, Chester (white) and Jack (brown). They have spent the last year enjoying first-time home ownership, finding the quickest route to the beach and taking a culinary tour of Tallahassee. The couple would spend twenty-four hours a day together if it weren’t for those pesky bills.

Elyse Barksdale is a recent graduate of Florida State University. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and hopes to return to the realm of academia in the near future to pursue a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Her study interests include the relationships between space, place, and the natural environment, community development, and urban design. She would like to explore the ways that cities and towns might manage growth wisely, so as to preserve the beauty of rural lands. She is looking forward to spending her time on the land and in the water this summer!
